| PNB is relentlessly nonpolitical. Because pageant fans come from every party and ideological grouping under the sun -- left, right, center and fringe -- we try to treat all political figures equally. When Bill Clinton was president of the United States, we once ran a a beauty queen photo that he snapped himself. But when it comes to actual campaign events, we always wait until the campaign is over, to avoid any appearance of favoritism. That was the case on Oct. 30, 2006, when President George W. Bush met a lovely friend of PNB during a campaign swing in the Deep South. |

| Since the U.S. midterm elections were scheduled for Nov. 7, we had to hold the story until the voting and counting were concluded. Mr. Bush, always a gentleman, graciously made no objection. |

![]() | The president received a T-shirt from none other than Rebekah Rotton, Miss Georgia Southern University. He in turn presented her with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. The T-shirt was dedicated to the fight against diabetes, in which she is an active volunteer. That fight is also the "platform" espoused by Ms. Rotton (rhymes with boatin') because she has a sister with the disease. |
| Mr. Bush's schedule was so pressing on that October day that he did not get to see Ms. Rotton model a variety of other outfits for the PNB cameras. He missed something. But now that the campaign is done, we can share the images with all people around the world. Mr. Bush can peruse them from the comfort of the White House simply by logging on to www.pageant.com. | ![]()
