Mirjana Bozovic has been crowned Miss Serbia 2007. The first runner-up (and Miss Serbia Universe) was Zorana Tasovic, and the second runner-up was Bojana Boric. Others in the top five were Aleksandra Pavic and Biljana Kvrgic. Antonella Carfi of Switzerland has won Miss Italia nel Mondo, a competition for women of Italian heritage around the world. The first runner-up was Christiana Frixione of Nicaragua, who was Nicaragua's representative at Miss Universe 2006. Isabel Lestapier-Winqvist, 20, Fröken Sverige 2007 (Miss Sweden 2007) was stripped of her title on June 26, 2007. She was replaced by 23-year-old Lina Hahne of Umea, who was first runner-up in the Swedish pageant in April. The Miss Sweden organization's decision not to participate in the 2007 Miss Universe Pageant (eventually deciding on waiting until 2008) led to highly exaggerated reporting in the American media that pageants in Sweden and the world in general were in decline. Adrienne Carver won the title of Mrs. Maryland America 2007 and won the Fitness award (highest swimsuit score) and Mrs. Congeniality on June 27, 2007. The first runner-up was Robyn Huffman, and the second runner-up was Lorionna Miller. As part of a joint pageant, Susan Sweat won the title of Mrs. DC America, and Tishema Miller, Mrs. Anacostia (DC), won the Mrs. Photogenic award. Mrs. Carver and Mrs. Sweat will compete at Mrs. America. Elaine Cato, director of the Miss Black Tennessee Pageant, is among the top six finalists on ABC's "American Inventor" reality show for her invention of a backless brassiere. She appeared on the program's June 27, 2007, episode, wearing an outfit that included the backless bra. Allison Nowicki has protested the fact that she was stripped of her title as Munger Potato Queen in Michigan. She was ousted in June 2007 with only six weeks left in her reign because she supposedly had missed too many appearances. She says that is not true, that she missed attending only one pageant and notfied authorities. She has been replaced by first runner-up Katie Smrecak, daughter of festival Chairman Don Smrecak, until a new queen is crowned in late July 2007 at the Munger Potato Festival. Katie Bailey, 24, competing as Miss South Arkansas, was crowned Miss Arkansas on June 23, 2007 in Hot Springs. She will compete at Miss America. The first runner-up was Chanley Painter, and the second runner-up was Adrielle Churchill. The third runner-up was Allison Waldrip, and the fourth runner-up was Gina Parker. Grace Gore, 23, competing as Miss Lexington, was crowned Miss Tennessee on June 23, 2007. She will compete at Miss America. The first runner-up was Ansley Reagan, the second runner-up was Tucker Perry, the third runner-up was Ashley Cole, and the fourth runner-up was Ellen Carrington. Mahleej Sarkari was crowned Miss Pakistan World 2007 on June 23, 2007. The first runner-up was Nida Shaheen, and the second runner-up was Nida Khan. Amy Polumbo, 21, competing as Miss Seashore Line, was crowned Miss New Jersey on June 16, 2007, in Ocean City. She will compete at Miss America. The first runner-up was Ronica Licciardello, and the second runner-up was Ashleigh Udalovas. The third runner-up was Krista Richman. The fourth runner-up was Samantha Hahn. Amanda Joseph, competing as Miss Bossier City, has been crowned Miss Louisiana. She will represent the state at Miss America. The first runner-up was Jennifer Soileau, Miss Crescent City New Orleans, and the second runner-up was Blair Abene: Miss Sportsman's Paradise. The third runner-up was Lacey Minchew, Miss Holiday in Dixie, and the fourth runner-up was Christina Hendrick, Miss Ark-La-Miss Fair. Ashley Bauer has been crowned Miss Nebraska 2007. The first runner-up was Brittany Jeffers, and the second runner-up was Rachel Seidel. The third runner-up was Kerry ter Kuile, and the fourth runner-up was Gretchen Bergquist. Roberta Camp, 23, competing as Miss Maple City, was crowned Miss Ohio 2007 in Mansfield on June 16, 2007. She will compete at Miss America. The first runner-up was Erica Gelhaus, and the second runner-up was Karissa Martin. The third runner-up was Kasey Wilson, and the fourth runner-up was Nanciann Strosnider. Jamie Langley, 23, competing as Miss Painted Rock, was crowned Miss Alabama on June 10, 2007. She will compete at Miss America. The first runner-up was Colene Burns, and the second runner-up was Elizabeth Cochran. The third runner-up was Katie Boyd, and the fourth runner-up was Whitney Weldon. Meredith Ervin was Miss Congeniality. Brittany Dempsey, Miss Capital, was crowned Miss Delaware 2007 on June 9, 2007. She will compete at Miss America. The first runner-up was Bliss Soucek, Miss Milford, and the second runner-up was Heather Lehman, Miss Dover. The third runner-up was Candice Ward, Miss First State. The fourth runner-up was Galen Giaccone, Miss Central Delaware. Gordana Tomic has been crowned Miss Bosnia and Herzegovina. The first runner- up was Tamara Simic, and the second runner-up was Djulijana Alic. The Amazonian state of Acre has chosen its representative for Miss Brazil World 2007. Jamila Fernandes, 21, is Miss Acre World and will compete for Miss Brazil World in September 2007. Giada Wiltshire, 17, from the Bologna area, won Miss Italy World 2007 on June 9, 2007. The tall teenager will represent Italy at Miss World 2007. The first runner-up was Carmela Campanale, 22, and the second runner-up was Elisa Figaro, 17. Jacqueline Elliott, representing Cedar Hill, won the title of Mrs. Texas United Nation on June 7, 2007. She also won the fitness, evening gown and community service awards. She will compete at the national pageant in Savannah on Aug. 15, 2007. The first runner up was Susan Arellano-Pete, the second runner up was Samantha Lanning and the third runner-up was Camille Luke. The America's Ultimate Queen National Pageant was in May in the racing capital of the world, Indianapolis. In the Teen division, the 2007 America's Ultimate Teen was Kelly Romans, 13, of West Virginia. The first runner-up was Bailee Zimmerman, and the second runner-up was Alisha Everman. The third runner-up was Brooke Bentley, and the fourth runner-up was Cassandra Robinson. In the Miss division, the 2007 America's Ultimate Miss was Kirstie Childerson of Illinois. The first runner-up was Jayme Knies, and the second runner-up was Anna Miller. The third runner-up was Chasity Butcher, and the fourth runner-up was Ali Tenney. In the Woman division, the 2007 America's Ultimate Woman was Jennifer Juncker of Illinois. The first runner-up was Tambra Stewart, and the second runner-up was Tiffany Bowen. The third runner-up was Navonna Browning. In the Mrs. division, the 2007 America's Ultimate Mrs. was Amy Martin of West Virginia. The first runner-up was Karen Wynne, and the second runner-up was Mary Wozniak. The third runner-up was Beverly Miller. The Overall Highpoint America's Ultimate Queen was Bailee Zimmerman of Indiana. She is the first teenager to win the title. D'Errico Wiley, 23, was crowned Mr. Tennessee 2007 on June 3, 2007, in Nashville. He is a native of Clarksville. The first runner-up was Kristopher Fleming, and the second runner-up was Eric Capehart. The third runner-up was Jonathan Miller. Marichen Luiperth was crowned Miss Namibia 2007 on June 9, 2007. She will represent the African pageant powerhouse at both Miss World and Miss Universe. The first princess (first runner-up) was Christa Engelbrecht, and the second princess (second runner-up) was Sade Gawanas. Miss Photogenic was Sonja Van der Merwe. Cynthia Muvirmi, 24, competing as Miss Zimbabwe, has been crowned Miss Global International 2007 in Kingston, Jamaica. She was the second Zimbabwean in a row to win the crown. She also won the Most Aware award. The first runner-up was Miss Botsawana, Vehae Tjirange, and Camille Box, Miss Jamaica, was the second runner-up. The Teen, Miss and Sweetheart Queen of Singapore Pageant was held June 3, 2007. The competition took place at Singapore Polytechnic Auditorium in Singapore. The event was hosted by Jackeline Carter, Mrs. Singapore Galaxy 2005. Clarissa Ellice Rae Lim, 18, was crowned Teen Singapore Sweetheart 2007. She also received the Popularity Award and the Photogenic Award. The first runner-up was Anastasia Tin Brodbeck, who also received the Supermodel with Style Award. The second runner-up was Serene Tan, who also received the Crowning Glory Award. Lilian Lee, 22, was crowned Miss Singapore Sweetheart 2007. She also received the Crowning Glory Award and the Body Beautiful Award. The first runner-up was Patricia Tan, and the second runner-up was Sashi. Sandra Ong, 39, was crowned Sweetheart Queen of Singapore 2007. The first runner-up was Daphne Hoon, who also won the Crowning Glory Award. The second runner-up was Arsana Biswas, who also won a consolation Talent Award. The winners were selected through audience voting. Kalilah Allen-Harris, competing as Miss Black Tennessee 2006-2007, was crowned Miss Miss Black USA 2007-2008 on June 2, 2007, in the West African nation of the Gambia. The Miss World organization has announced that its 2007 pageant will take place on Dec. 1, 2007, in its recent favorite venue, Sanya, China. Miss World traditionally has its pageant late in the designated year. Barbara Meier, 20, of Regensburg was announced as Germany's Next Top Model on May 24, 2007, on the German version of the pageant-style TV program. Heidi Klum is the host of the German version. Johanna Vala Jonsdottir, 20, of Reykjavik was crowned Miss Iceland 2007 (Ungfru Island 2007) on May 24, 2007. She will compete at Miss Universe 2008 and possibly Miss World 2007. The first runner-up was Katrín Dögg Sigurdardóttir, 21, The second runner-up was Fanney Lára Gudmundsdóttir, 20, and the third runner-up was Karen Lind Tómasdóttir, 22. The fourth runner-up was Sigrídur Hulda Árnadóttir, 19. The California State American Queen Pageant took place in San Diego on May 20, 2007. California's 2007 American Queens are Madison Erickson, Miss Junior Teen California American Queen 2007; Krystle Exler, Miss Teen California American Queen 2007; Jennifer Bock, Miss California American Queen 2007; Kimberly Foss-Erickson, Mrs. California American Queen 2007; Marcia Grant, Ms. California American Queen 2007; Jacqueline Matranga, Ms. Classic California American Queen 2007. They will represent the state of California at the Fifth Annual National American Queen Pageant in August 2007 in Daytona Beach, Fla. Valene Maharaj, 21, was crowned Miss Trinidad and Tobago World on May 20, 2007. She will represent the island nation at Miss World. Ziya Wei, 24, was crowned Miss China Universe 2007 on May 18, 2007. The first runner-up was YuShu Liang, and the second runner-up was Ling Yang. Regiane Andrade, 23, has been crowned Miss Santa Catarina World. She will represent the Southern Brazilian state at Miss Brazil World 2007. Regiane Andrade, 23, has been crowned Miss Santa Catarina World. The first runner-up was Miss Teen World U.S., Ashley Sagisi Moser of Hawaii, and the second runner-up was Miss Teen World Canada, Cali Tanner. The New England Regional American Queen Pageant was held on May 6, 2007, in Providence, R.I.. New England state titleholders for 2007 were crowned and will represent their states at the Fifth Annual National American Queen Pageant in Daytona Beach in summer 2007. They are: Jacinta Devlin, Miss Maine American Queen 2007; Donnetta Andrews, Ms. Classic Massachusetts American Queen 2007; Lisa LaRoux, Miss Junior Teen Connecticut American Queen 2007; Ashley Mae Hayden, Miss Connecticut American Queen 2007; Sara Hisey, Mrs. Rhode Island American Queen 2007; Jamie LaRoux, Miss Teen Connecticut American Queen 2007; Kassandra~Lynn Pombo, Miss Junior Teen Massachusetts 2007; Janea Granville, Miss Massachusetts American Queen 2007. Angelina Glass, 19, of Berlin has been crowned Miss Germany Universe 2007. She is the daughter of a Filipino father and a German mother. She was Miss Berlin 2005 and finished as first runner-up in Miss Germany Universe 2005 (when the title was won by Asli Bayram). Wendy Salgado, 22, competing as Miss Tegucigalpa, was crowned Miss Honduras Universe 2007 on April 20, 2007. She will be the first Honduran representative to Miss Universe in five years. The first runner-up was Gabriela Tejada, Miss El Progreso, and the second runner-up was Mirza Morales, Miss Copan. Ailda Boer, 21, was crowned Miss Guatemala 2007 on April 30, 2007. She will represent Guatemala in Miss Universe 2007. The first runner-up was Hamy Tejada, and the second runner-up was Hania Hernandez. Lyudmilla Bkimullina has been crowned Miss Ukraine Universe 2007. She will represent the country at Miss Universe. Isabel Lestapier-Winqvist, 20, of Helsingborg, Sweden, was crowned Fröken Sverige 2007 (Miss Sweden 2007) on April 21, 2007. After some conflicting reports, it was announced that she would not compete at Miss Universe because the Miss Sweden contest has more feminist ideals that conflict with Miss Universe customs. For instance, the Miss Sweden contest in its current form does not include a swimsuit event. Kimberly Busteed, 18, of Gladstone, Queensland, was crowned Miss Universe Australia on April 20, 2007. Jessica Tan, a 24-year-old flight attendant was crowned Miss Singapore Universe 2007 on April 22, 2007. Nadine Njeim, 19, was crowned Miss Lebanon 2007 on April 27, 2007. She will represent her country at Miss Universe and by coincidence has the exact same name as a previous Miss Lebanon. The first runner-up was Maha Khoury, and the second runner-up was Sahar Sbeity. The third runner-up was Sasha Dahdouh, and the fourth runner-up was Greta Habib. Mallory Rivard has won her state title and will represent Michigan in the 2007 American National Teenager-Preteen National pageant in Nashville in July 2007. She also won the Supermodel award and will be featured in Supermodels Unlimited magazine. Sarah Polk Stehno (Miss Idaho Teen USA 1994) and Whitney Fuller Wideman (Miss Georgia Teen USA 1994 and first runner-up to Miss Teen USA) reunited in Madrid, Spain, over the 2007 Easter holiday. Ms. Stehno and her husband were traveling in Europe and arranged to spend time in Madrid where Ms. Wideman and husband Tom, a professional basketball player, make their home. Ms. Wideman's boys Ryan and Adam enjoyed meeting their mom's longtime friend. Tjasa Kokalj, 21, of Ljubljana was crowned Miss Universe Slovenia 2007 on April 20, 2007. She will represent Slovenia in Miss Universe 2007. The first runner-up was Teja Britovsek, and the second runner-up was Meta Logar. The Miss African-American United pageant system announces the following 2007 queens: Miss Teen African-American United is Julia Sewell of Minnesota, Miss African-American United is Myisha Hill of Illinois, and Ms. African-American United is Peggy Conrad of North Carolina. Talisa Hopson of Indiana has been crowned the first queen in the new Ms. Plus division. ChiQuita Battle has been crowned Mrs. Maryland United States 2007. The first runner-up was Deanna Linz, and the second runner-up was Michele Weeks. Special award winners were: Interview -- ChiQuita Battle; Fitness -- Michele Weeks; Evening Gown -- Michele Weeks; Photogenic -- Michele Weeks; Community Service -- Deanna Linz; People's Choice -- Deanna Linz; Mrs. of the Year - Amber Dulski. Jennifer Phillips has been crowned Mrs. Virginia United States 2007. The first runner-up was Rachel Naugle-McCarville, and the second runner-up was Tina McClain. The third runner-up was Tenille Repinski, and the fourth runner-up was Tonya Gustin. Special award winners were: Interview -- Jennifer Phillips; Fitness -- Tenille Repinski; Evening Gown -- Jennifer Phillips; Photogenic --Tenille Repinski; Community Service -- Tonya Gustin; People's Choice -- Jennifer Hoke; Mrs. of the Year: Jennifer Phillips. The Georgia State American Queen Pageant took place on April 15, 2007, at the Academy of Medicine Theatre in Atlanta. Under state director Sunjia Burks, new state American Queen Title Holders were crowned. They will represent Georgia at the Fifth Annual National American Queen Pageant in Daytona Beach, Fla., in summer 2007. They are: Chloe Wilson, Miss Junior Teen Georgia American Queen 2007; Jennifer Roseberry, Miss Teen Georgia American Queen 2007; Erin McKeown, Miss Georgia American Queen 2007; Laury Gagnon, Ms. Georgia American Queen 2007; Alisha McCoy, Mrs. Georgia American Queen 2007; Karen Meredith, Ms. Classic Georgia American Queen 2007. Special Awards were also given, including: Congeniality -- Holly Ertley; Community Service -- Nicole Belcher; Photogenic -- Laury Gagnon; People's Choice and Personality Awards -- Chloe Wilson; Interview Award -- Erin McKeown; Fitness and Evening Gown Award -- Alisha McCoy; Carmela Award -- Karen Meredith. Katerina Pasat has been crowned 2007 Texas Hi-Point Champion for Dream Girls USA. Originally competing in the pre-teen division, Katerina went on to win the overall crown. She competes in the Dream Girls USA national pageant in St. Louis on May 26-28, 2007. Noelle Freeman was crowned the 28th Miss Teenage California at the state finals on April 20-22, 2007, in Los Angeles. She will represent California in the Miss Teen World US Pageant in August 2007, in Phoenix. This is the national final to the Miss Teen World Pageant. The runners up in order were: Miss Teen Regional Sacramento, Lauren McHale; Miss Teen Greater Orange County, Rachel Lyu; Miss Teen Orange County, Milana Trimino, and Miss Teen Martinez, Kimberly Moore. Dina Manco has been chosen Miss Garden State Junior Teen, qualifying her to compete in Miss Junior Teen America. Tim Wielandt, 33, of Meggen (Luzern) was crowned Mister Schweiz (Switzerland) 2007 on April 14, 2007. The first runner-up was Lionel Clerc of Lausanne, and the second runner-up was Marcel Odermatt of Engelberg. The third runner-up was Agron Shala of Stäfa (Zurich). Flaviana Matata was crowned Miss Universe Tanzania 2007 on April 14, 2007, in Dar-Es-Salaam. She will be the representative of Tanzania ever to compete at Miss Universe. Naemi Monte has been crowned Miss Curacao Universe. Lisaika Everitz was crowned Miss Curacao World. The first runner-up in the pageant was Amada Hernandez, and the second runner-up was Maggy Alexander. Ildiko Bona, 20, was crowned Miss Universe Hungary on April 14, 2007. The first runner-up was Katalin Sarka, 21, and the second runner-up was Katalin Revai, 22. Katerina Sokolova was crowned Miss Czech Republic 2007 on April 14, 2007. She will compete at Miss World. The first runner-up was Veronika Pompeova, who will go to Miss Europe and Miss International. The second runner-up was Veronika Chmelirova, who will go to Miss Intercontinental.(The Czech delegate to Miss Universe, chosen some weeks earlier by a different organization, is Lucie Hadasova.) Lissette Rodriguez, 21, won the title of Nuestra Belleza El Salvador 2007 on April 13, 2007. She will compete at Miss Universe. The first runner-up was Marcela Velasco, and the second runner-up was Mabel Lemus. The third runner-up was Natalia Mena, and the fourth runner-up was Karla Leon. Natália Guimarăes, representing Minas Gerais, was crowned Miss Brazil Universe on April 14, 2007. The first runner-up was Carolina Prates, Miss Rio Grande do Sul, who will compete at Miss International. The second runner-up was Vivian Noronha Cia, Miss Paraná, and the third runner-up was Wilma Gomes, Miss Pernambuco. The fourth runner-up was Sabrina Rhoden, Miss Săo Paulo. Sadina Alla, 20, was crowned Miss Universe Albania 2007 on April 12, 2007, in Tirana. She will represent the Balkan nation at Miss Universe in late May. Aruni Rajapakse has been crowned Miss Sri Lanka Universe. The first runner-up was Maria Fermando, and the second runner-up was Udeshika Liyanage. Amaris Acosta of the Bronx has been chosen Miss New York United States 2007. She will compete for the title of Miss United States in Raleigh in August 2007. Kirby Ann Basken, 21, was crowned Fröken Norge Universe (Miss Norway Universe) on April 9, 2007. She was chosen by the judges. Lisa-Marie Moen Jünge, 18, was crowned Fröken Norge World, chosen by the TV audience. The first runner-up was Anna-Marie Augustin, 19. Ms. Basken is of Philippine origin. She was Muty Ng Pilipinas 2006 and placed in the Top 12 of Miss Intercontinental 2006. Sarah-Jane Dias was crowned Miss India World on April 8, 2007. Puja Gupta was crowned Miss India Universe, and Pooja Chitgopekar was crowned Miss India Earth. The Mid-Atlantic Regional American Queen Pageant took place on April 1, 2007, in Mt. Laurel, N.J. 2007 State title holders from the Mid-Atlantic States were crowned and will represent their states at the Fifth Annual National American Queen Pageant in Daytona Beach, this Summer. They are: Alicia Banks, Miss Teen New Jersey 2007; Melissa Caltabiano, Miss New Jersey 2007; Megan Hart-Macy, Ms. New Jersey 2007; Tiana Kalba, Miss New York 2007; Kate Stier, Mrs. Pennsylvania 2007. Yalena Matos, 20, of Portland, Ore., has been chosen Miss Latina US 2006, to replace Melissa Marin, who stepped down because of an educational obligation. Ms. Matos will represent the United States at Miss Latin America 2007. This is the first such change in the history of the pageant. Trinere Lynes was crowned Miss Bahamas Universe 2007 on April 1, 2007. She will compete at Miss Universe. The first runner-up was Sharon Rolle, who will compete at Miss Earth. The second runner-up was Tia Butler. Jessica Tompkins was crowned Miss Teen Bahamas Universe 2007. The first runner-up was Scaade Sands, and the second runner-up was Rebecca Johnson.
