| A night of joy in Johnstown At PNB, we always like to look back at the year just past, before memories dim or become distorted. It's like peering out a coach window for a final glimpse of a lovely land where we recently spent a happy interlude. Now it's passing from our view forever. Our golden memory for 2006 is a pageant held in Johnstown, Pa., in November, the month of American Thanksgiving. |

| Why this one event among the many? First, the pageant was a banquet of beauty, befitting the bounteous autumn holiday. Second, there really was a lovely land -- at least in this memory. Johnstown is a sublime place, full of natural grandeur, poignant history and congenial spirits. Bounty there was indeed, with four queens crowned in one spectacular night of competition. |

| Alycia McCullough was crowned Miss Greater Johnstown and Brittny Sparrow was crowned Miss Cambria County, with both destined to compete for the Miss Pennsylvania crown. Two young women were selected to participate in Pennsylvania's Outstanding Teen Pageant -- MacKenzie Bart, Johnstown's Outstanding Teen, and Calsie Boyd, Cambria County's Outstanding Teen. PNB's pictures of the event come from the lens of the legendary Joe Whiteko, who knows this part of the country very well. He has seen beauty in his time, but this was a remarkable night in a unique town. Did we say "passing from our view forever"? Maybe not. PNB will return, and the images will remain among our treasures. | ![]()
