"You people are all gloom and doom," said a PNB critic. "Sure, global warming may be a problem, but it's all you think about."

Guilty. We can't get the big mercury rise off our feverish brains. But we don't want to be the wet blankets of the pageant world (even if our blankets are soaked in sweat).

So let's look on the bright side. As global warming settles in, the world could become one big Miss Florida USA Pageant. And that might be a decent tradeoff for the melting of the permafrost.

Paul Fong's scenes from the pageant show the contestants, including winner Jessica Rafalowski, in their global warming outfits -- bikinis. It's a heat wave of beauty.

Ok, Florida is a greenhouse, but these flowers are so lovely. We'll fret about the future lately.
