| Jamie Ginn and the five D's OK, we'll give you the five straight away: She's Delightful, she's Delicious and she was crowned at Dover Downs, Delaware. Delaware is a small state, but it looms large in science. It's the home of the DuPont Corp., the most famous chemical company in history. Molecule manipulators in Delaware have changed the life of every person on the planet. More importantly, Delaware is often cited as the home of beauty pageants -- at least in the United States. There were bathing beauty contests on Delaware shores in the 1880s, before cars, before planes, before TVs. (We think history is more fun than chemistry.) |

| In early June 2006, history and chemistry came together -- in Delaware. The result of this delightful experiment: Jamie Ginn, Miss Delaware. This beauty, who will represent the state at Miss America, has perfect chemistry. She's a chemical engineer, and she's even a DuPont employee. And is she a bathing beauty? Well, you should see her in a swimsuit. |

| She was crowned the first year the pageant was held at the Dover Downs, after decades in historic Rehoboth Beach. It was a big move for a small state, and PNB was there to record the event. The good people of the Miss Delaware Organization handled it with aplomb, putting on a sterling show and making us welcome. And this is just the beginning. Jamie Ginn will be the subject of a PNB Miss America profile this summer. You'll enjoy it, with every molecule of your being. | ![]() |
