The St. Pauli Girl is one of the most famous images in the beverage business. We've all seen the painted label on beer bottles: A beaming blonde wearing a low-cut Bavarian dress and carrying huge mugs of beer. She's every thirsty man's fantasy.

Sometimes beautiful labels come to life. That's what happened this year. Former PNB cover girl Brittany Evans -- a model as blond and buxom as any Bavarian -- became the 2006 St. Pauli Girl. The picture on the label will still be a painting, but the lovely likeness of Ms. Evans will appear on posters, screen savers and other promotional materials for the famous imported beer.

Ms. Evans did a full-length interview with PNB in late 2001, as she completed a year as Ms. Venus Swimwear International. Contradicting the stereotype of a "bikini babe," she was one of our most inspirational interviews. Her philosophy of life and competition is to dream big and never give up.

Since that appearance, Ms. Evans has co-hosted several episodes of "Wild On!" for the "E" Network, appeared on Playboy.com and been the spokesmodel for a famous pro hockey team.

Then she tried out to be the St. Pauli Girl. The way she describes it, the phone call telling her she had been chosen was one of the most exhilarating moments of her career. But the thing about Brittany Evans is that she finds more fun in life every day. She has one of the sweetest personalities in the business, and she's a good friend to people as diverse as Brooke Burke and Gerdeen Dyer.

The next time you see the photographic poster of the St. Pauli Girl, you won't have to wonder who she is. And you won't have to wonder how she looks when she's not dressed for the beer hall.
